NOTICE: Annual Meeting of Members being held on December 4th @ 7PM
The Carleton Place Canoe Club aims to provide the Carleton Place and surrounding communities with all levels of programming pertaining to flatwater canoeing and kayaking, including sprint racing, dragon boat racing, summer kids camps, flatwater recreation, and flatwater introduction. The CPCC is committed to promoting life-long physical health and wellbeing, and providing appropriate programs to support the best development pathway for all athletes in their pursuit of individual and/or team excellence.
The Carleton Place Canoe Club is a not-for-profit organization with over 125 years of history. Managed by volunteers and professional staff, we offer a variety of paddling programs which are designed to promote a positive self-image, an appreciation for the sport and the spirit of cooperation and fair play for participant’s ages 6 years old and up. Our programs provide a group environment where beginner and experienced paddlers can develop skills in all boats; singles, doubles, fours, as well as war canoe and dragon boat. Competitive programs provide the opportunity for all ages to compete in regattas throughout the region, right up to a Provincial and National level.
Coaches, staff and volunteers work hard to ensure the safety of all participants on the water. As well as being competent paddlers, all coaches at the club are certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), are Safe Sport Certified, are confident swimmers, and have Pleasure Craft Operator License. Safety boats are always within sight and ready to respond. To provide a safe and secure environment for our weekly summer camp programs, the minimum staff to participant ratio is 1:8. For sprint programs, the minimum ratio of coaches to athletes is 1:10.
The club has recently undergone a revision of our programs to better align with Canoe Kayak Canada's Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model. The LTAD model is a framework that provides paddlers at all stages of development the opportunity to be the best they can be. With that in mind, we have created the CPCC Paddler Pathway to clearly outline 3 participant streams; Introduction, Competitive Development, and High Performance Development.
This is what we do. This is who we are. #WePaddle
