Program Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00AM - 3:30PM (Pre- and post-care available from 7:30AM to 5:30PM for an additional $40/week or $240 for the full summer)

Our U10 Youth Sprint Program is designed for athletes aged 8-9 (as of January 1st, 2025) and runs throughout the summer. Aligned with Canoe Kayak Canada’s FUNdamentals and Foundations stages of Long Term Athlete Development, the program introduces young athletes to water safety, sprint canoe and kayak techniques, and physical literacy through games and on-water practice.

Our certified and experienced coaches create a safe, fun, and educational environment to teach these essential skills. We emphasize technical development, building athleticism, and fostering a love for the sport. Athletes will train in both singles and crew boats, focusing on technique, aerobic fitness, and speed development. This personalized approach ensures each child receives the attention and guidance needed for growth in a fun, focused setting.

Our U12 Youth Sprint Program is designed for athletes aged 10-11 (as of January 1st, 2025) and runs through the summer. Aligned with Canoe Kayak Canada’s FUNdamentals, Foundations, and Learning to Train stages of Long Term Athlete Development, this program introduces young athletes to beginner to intermediate sprint canoe and kayak techniques, team-building, race preparation, and physical fitness both on and off the water.
Led by our certified and experienced coaches, athletes will learn the importance of water safety in a fun, supportive environment. We focus on technical skill development, fostering a love for the sport, and enhancing physical fitness. Athletes will train in singles and crew boats, working on technique, aerobic conditioning, and speed, all while benefiting from a small-group coaching approach. This structure ensures personalized attention, helping athletes thrive in a focused, enjoyable setting.

Our U14 Youth Sprint Program is designed for athletes aged 12-13 (as of January 1st, 2024) and runs throughout the summer, with options for full-season or part-time participation. Aligned with Canoe Kayak Canada’s Training to Train stage of the Long Term Athlete Development plan, this program focuses on intermediate to advanced sprint canoe and kayak techniques, physical fitness, race preparation, and strategy. Athletes will also begin learning about goal-setting, nutrition, and self-care practices.

We offer three registration options:

Full-Season Program: This option provides comprehensive athlete development with 4-5 training sessions per week in the spring and fall, and full-day programming in July and August.

Summer-Only Program: This option is ideal for those seeking a shorter commitment or athletes in other sports with scheduling conflicts.

Part-Time Program: Designed for athletes who need more flexible scheduling, this abbreviated summer program runs from June 30th to August 22nd, with training from 9:00AM to 12:00PM.
Our certified, passionate coaches provide a fun, supportive environment focused on developing technical skills and a lifelong appreciation for the sport.

The Carleton Place Canoe Club’s Introduction to Sprint Program is a dynamic 2-week camp designed for youth aged 8-13 (as of January 1, 2025). Perfect for newcomers, this program offers a taste of sprint canoe/kayak without the commitment of a full summer. Participants will work with our certified and experienced coaches to build foundational skills, learn about sprint competition, and develop a passion for this exciting sport.

As part of the program, athletes can test their skills at a local regatta on July 19th. Those eager for more can extend their registration into the full Youth Sprint Program by simply paying the fee difference. Each day includes a mix of sprint canoe/kayak training in singles and crew boats, focusing on technique, fitness, core strength, and speed development, all within a fun and supportive environment.

Program highlights include certified National Coach Certification Program staff, an emphasis on water safety, and a focus on fostering teamwork and technical skill development.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to complete registration, you must submit a signed waiver, code of conduct, concussion code of conduct (for each of your registered participants), and payment in full (prior to the program start date). Our waiver and codes of conduct can be found in the 'Important Info' section of our website, and payment can be made by credit card online (subject to a 3% transaction fee), by cheque (dropped off at the CPCC office) or via email transfer to finance@cpcanoeclub.com.
