rEGISTRATION is open - come paddle with us!
Our U10 Sprint Racing program for ages 8-9 (as of January 1st, 2022) is a full summer program designed around Canoe Kayak Canada’s FUNdamentals and Foundations stage of the Long Term Athlete Development plan. Athletes will work with our friendly, experienced, and certified coaches to learn about water safety, introductory sprint canoe and kayak technique, and physical literacy through games and practice sessions on the water.
All of our staff are certified through the National Coach Certification Program and are passionate about teaching our young paddlers about the importance of water safety in a fun and knowledgeable environment. With priorities focused on providing the best athlete development opportunities for our young athletes, our Academy program emphasizes honing sport specific skills and strengths, while preparing athletes to move up to the High Performance stream programs.
The Academy program is an invitation-only program for athletes focused on paddling as a high-level sport. Athletes train year-round to develop the physical, technical, and mental skills required for our sport. The program is a bridge between the U14 Sprint Racing program and the more intensive U16+ High Performance sprint programs, specifically tailored to develop young athletes for future high-performance paddling. This program requires a high level of commitment and is offered to athletes who have goals of performing well at divisional and provincial regattas and who are working toward competing nationally and internationally. While not mandatory, Academy athletes should have or be in the process of getting their own equipment, including a boat and paddle.
