Funding & Financial Assistance

At the Carleton Place Canoe Club, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joys of paddling. Our club is committed to supporting participation for all, and we strive to help every paddler get on the water. This resource page outlines a variety of funding programs designed to offset the costs of sport and summer camp participation. By connecting families with financial assistance options and working together to meet the needs of our community, we aim to make paddling accessible and inclusive for everyone.

Canadian Tire - Jumpstart Program

  • Provides a maximum amount of $300 per athlete/participant (or application) for families in need of financial support;

  • As per Jumpstart, it is recommended that applications be submitted prior to the program start date;

  • If confirmation of registration (receipt, etc.) is required to verify a participant’s registration in a Carleton Place Canoe Club program, please contact our Program Manager, Ellie Lanouette via ellie@cpcanoeclub.com.

KidSport Ontario

  • Provides a maximum amount of $250 per eligible athlete/participant for families in need of financial support;

  • ​The is awarded per year (January 1st - December 31st), per athlete/participant towards sport registration fees

    • As per the KidSport Ontario website: For programs taking place between July - August 2025, the deadline is Friday, May 16th, 2025;

  • If confirmation of registration (receipt, etc.) is required to verify an athlete/participant’s registration in an Carleton Place Canoe Club program, please contact our Program Manager, Ellie Lanouette via ellie@cpcanoeclub.com.

Their Opportunity

  • As per the Their Opportunity website, to qualify for a sports subsidy for your athlete/participant, families must fall within the financial criteria as per Revenue Canada’s low income measure (LIM) thresholds by income source and household size;

    • Once an athlete(s)/participant(s) is funded they must go out in the community and volunteer to “pay it forward” to their community.​

  • If confirmation of registration (receipt, etc.) is required to verify an athlete/participant’s registration in an Carleton Place Canoe Club program, please contact our Program Manager, Ellie Lanouette via ellie@cpcanoeclub.com.

Passport Program (for Adults with Developmental Disabilities

  • Passport is a program that helps adults 18 years or older with a developmental disability;

  • Passport provides funding for services and supports so adults with a developmental disability can;

    • Take part in community classes or recreational programs, etc.​

  • Provides a minimum amount of $5,500 per athlete/participant, per year;

    • Can be used for the following: registration fees, paddling equipment (paddles/PFDs), entry fees to competitions, etc.​

    • How to Apply: Visit the Passport Program (for Adults with Developmental Disabilities) website & complete the application form.
